Hi guys,

We are over to St Pete's in December for a family wedding. Hopefully we will be flying in mid December and flying out 5th Jan.

I am working out whether it'd be best to book into a hotel or hire a villa/ townhouse.

What are hotels like in the area around Christmas? There will be two adults and 3 children so on looking, it seems if we go hotel, me and the wife will have to have a room each and split the children up (11,8 and 6) which is not an ideal way to spend Christmas...

Anyone got any recommendations for villa / townhouse hires in the area?

Wedding is going to be here http://www.stpetersburgwomansclub.org/

Any help would be great thanks.

Kev

I am 15 miles away in Belleair, near Clearwater. Lots to rent....the question is how long will you be staying for and what do you want to pay? Am happy to suggest places I know. The club is very close to where the late Dan Wheldon lived, a lovely location Prices do vary depending upon whether you rent a condo or a townhouse. The beaches are wonderful but it is not always that warm over Christmas, with temperatures anywhere from low 50's through to mid 70's. St Petersburg is a great place, good restaurants, a decent marina, some culture (unusual for Florida) and loads of shopping for the wife.

Thanks for the reply.

Looking to fly out on 12th December and returning on 5th January. We have always rented a villa previously and stayed around the Kissimee area so that we were close but not that close and could do Disney. As this is more of a family occasion, we would like to stay nearer them and maybe do a few days worth of trips over to Orlando.

As far as prices go, its fairly flexible but don't want to go too mad. One hotel was after $450 per night for two rooms but that would mean me and the missus would have to have a room each and we'd have to split the children up (11,8 and 6). Ok for a couple of nights but not for the whole holiday.

Ideally, I think hiring our own place would be better but then how do the hotels celebrate Christmas especially for children. Going by what we have seen on other holidays should be great but never been out there Christmas time before.

Perfect spot would be on beach or waters edge but they are looking to be pricey.

any pointers would be gratefully received.

Kev lets take this 'offline'. PM me, lets talk and I will suggest locations from Indian Rocks beach and Redington Shores down to St Petersburg etc. Orlando is a 90 mile drive so the theme parks are not so far away.
