On highway 15 now. Anyone know if they have speed cameras here? Haven't seen anything suspicious so far...

I think the world's fastest speeding ticket was in Nevada, and the driver just had to pay a (massive) fine. So if you win big don't be scared to drive back to LA at warp 9.

That was one of the dullest drives of my life, no speed cameras just the odd police car. Just set the cruise control and watch the mountains get closer.

Drive to the Grand Canyon, the last hour is like a rally course if you go to the skywalk lol

I remember that being a very fast stretch of road - you need to be careful on the steep hills if running aircon though as the engine temp will jump quite dramatically. We saw the signs saying "switch off your aircon - steep incline" and ignored them right up until noticing that the car was overheating!

We took a detour though the Mojave desert.... Was "amusing".

hehe When were you there? In 2008, they'd paved about the first mile I think. Proper dust road after that, bouncing along between cacti and buffalo biggrin

Oh, and OP - obey the "Don't pick up hitchhikers" signs wink

Cheers for the advice. And sorry to the mods for originally posting in the wrong place.

A pretty fine drive all things considered.

I got "done" on Route 40 near Kingman, AZ, many years ago. I was driving a 2 litre Ford Probe flat out, due to extreme boredom. Can't recall the exact speed, but well over 100mph. Went under a bridge and the copper was hiding behind the abutment. Lifted off as soon as I saw the lights, but it was too late. Cost me $200, IIRC. He was quite reasonable about it, said he knew I was going faster, but he was citing me for 97mph. It was almost worth $200 for the experience - mirror shades, gun, etc., he looked just like the cop out of Terminator 2. (Gulp!) Then spent the next 2 hours driving at 55mph and being overtaken by *everything*!

I'm pretty sure we did. My mate organised it as he arrived in LA 24 hours earlier.

It's worth checking you have sat nav as he said some did and some didn't.

Have a good one.

Oh - and pack light if you're getting a drop top. The boot/trunk is minute, and no space behind the seats.
