Had my car booked in for an MOT this morning at Colwood Motors in Hornchurch, or at least I thought I did. Anyway, got there and they insisted it was booked in for Friday not Saturday. Now I made a point of double checking with them that it was Saturday when I originally booked the appointment.

Anyway to get to the point – the guy there was so unhelpful and worse, completely unapologetic. He even tried to blame me! To top it off, he then started giving me a load of fking flannel about why they could not squeeze it in – something to do with his computer being linked to the DVLA.

Got it sorted in the end at A1 in Dagenham... Just drove there, waited 20 minutes and job done...

Not saying he was right/wrong, but the MOT is now completley automated and connected to DVLA.

Say the MOT is 40mins, they have to allocate 1 hour for the test and might not have had an official slot as such to fit you in.

It was his attitude that really pissed me off.

Never tried that place and now probrably never will! Nice one

A1 is just up the road from us but never tried it, was gonna pop the STi into Elites on the A13 as they usually do a fair deal on rubber.

For balance, I used this place 2/3 times a few years back with my old car. Missus has also taken her car there on a half dozen occasions....always been very helpful, courteous and we've pleased with work.

Perhaps its changed hands in the last cople of years, but I always thought they were good (in an "old school" way).

I have used this garage for years on the recommendation of family and friends and always found them to be really good. I know the ownership hasn't changed so maybe you just caught them at a bad moment.

I would recommend them.

M & J Freeman at Star Moorings on the A127 Upminster (London bound) is a fair place for tests - they 'understand' the older vehicle!
