I was wondering what people thought about moving the venue - perhaps as a one off to try?

I know this place has just opened, and is 'auto' themed and just off the A12: http://www.8balldiner.com/

The Lodge is fine, but I always feel we're there playing second fiddle to the Scooby crew - e.g. they have big sections reserved for them and we have to fit in wherever, despite bringing more (and more interesting) cars to the meets (especially in the summer).

Just a thought anyway.

Hi Matt

Definately worth thinking about. Lets see how this develops.

Unfortunately I wont be at the meet this thursday but kick it around with the guys. I've had a feeling a change would do us no harm and that venue looks very car freindly. I'll get a bit of a drive as well if we go there. Fezza never even gets warmed up when I go to the lodge.

There was a thread on here a little while ago about the 8 Ball Diner.

One PH member provided quite a few of the photographic prints used on the walls so I guess other PH'ers will be welcome. Perhaps an email or call to tell them our plans and see what their initial reaction is biggrin

Sounds like a good idea to me, the 8 ball dinner looks like an Essex version of the Ace Cafe. I do like the current venue but as I live in Rawreth so my car doesn't even get warmed up, I do enjoy a little run out.

As soon as it gets a little lighter in the evenings I am going to start coming to the PH meets again.

That looks like a great place – good find Matt. When it's lighter I'll start coming again to represent the two-wheeled brigade…

Looking forward to popping over to the 8 ball (when it opens) owned by Brian Burrows who was big in the vw drag scene years ago, got an email about the opening from them the other day via volkzone.

Looks fab. As others have said, it'll be nice to have the car warm up before arriving!

I'd probably be up for that :-)

Whenever I've driven past, I've always thought the car park was very small. But looking at the list of car clubs using it, I guess it must be fine!

Go for it - a change of venue might initiate some new/renewed interest.

I've been trying to get to one of these meets for ages but work always gets in the way, being this much nearer to me I reckon I'll finally manage to make onesmile

Sounds good to me but it may change the participants...

Once we get the longer evenings it'll be a pleasure to drive out there but if it's a damp November evening I'm not sure whether I would make the effort
