Crowborough - What's it like?
Discussion
Nothing wrong with Crowborough. Town centre nice enough and some very nice surrounding countryside, you're right on top of the Ashdown Forest for a start. Some good driving roads too, but as usual you've got to look out for the cameras. 15 minute drive into Tunbridge Wells for proper shopping or a nice drive down to Brighton in half an hour or so. There seems to be a lot of divorced men moving there for some reason, maybe you get more for your money once the ex has fleeced you! Hopefully that's not your situation though.
As above, nothing wrong with the place. A couple of reasons why houses are generally cheaper than say Tunbridge Wells area is that rail commuting to London is not as easy, and being in East Sussex you don't have the grammar schools (whereas over the border in Kent you do). If neither are a concern, then it's great value and lovely countryside.
I've lived in Crowborough for 25 years and whilst not the most exciting place there's not a great deal wrong with it either.
It suits me as it's a lot less congested than Tunbridge Wells which is still only a 10 minute drive away when your heading out or want the shops.
Easy to get to Brighton and on back roads up towards the M25, reasonable train service into london and nice surrounding country side.
Where about is Crowborough are you looking to move to?

I'm in Canary Wharf, currently getting the train from Tonbridge and then the Jubilee line. However given a recent spate of delays (this morning for example) I'm planning to start driving in.
To give some examples we've looked at places on Wellesley Close and Langridge Close.

I would quite happily live in either of those locations, well almost do as I'm about 2 doors further up the A26 than Langridge Close.
Not sure I'd really want to drive in to London from here every morning but I'm lazy!
heading up through the back roads towards westerham is quite a nice way to get to the M25 without too much traffic.
