Also travelling from Northampton to Dartford tonight, M1 and M25, advisable or not?

Sorry for the thread hijack - I thought it would save having two along very similar lines.

Probably a bit late now but main roads in Chelmsford area are fine - I went over to Storford on Wed (A120) and it was fine - there's been far less snow up there than around Chelms.

Can't say for the 127 / 130, not had a reason to go south this week.

Sorry, haven't been on the M25 all week; bridge had problems earlier in the week - sure there'll be someone along shortly who can let you know what it's like today though.

Hi, no problem with topic hijack. We are all trying to find out same info. I drove from Southend to Stansted and back last night. Left Southend at 0130 and arrived at Stansted Airport at 0300. Pretty good going really. Roads through Southend were very poor, didn't look like the A127 had been treated recently. But as soon as got to other side of Basildon roads were fine. M25 and M11 no problem at all. Although temperatures were down at -7 deg C at times. Journey back was 1Hr 15 as didn't have wife and daughter in the car with me reminding me about my speed !!!

I went to Bishop Auckland and back on Saturday with no problems or hold-ups.

I'm hoping to run across to Canterbury tomorrow and head back home Saturday, will keep an eye on this thread in the morning
the overnight forecast looks a bit iffy frown

The main roads were fine but took an age to get the snow and ice off the car

Main roads are fine over here in Gravesend, service roads to cul de sacs etc are rubbish though.

The roads are fine at the moment, Over this weekend I've done a round robin of Salisbury - Essex (Thurrock) - Kent (Sittingbourne) - Essex (Laindon) - Essex (Thurrock) - Essex (laindon) - Essex (Thurrock) - Kent (Sittingbourne) - Salisbury.

The only roads to avoid as of today are the M26 diversion onto the A25, as i sat in traffic for a good hour before moving. Other than that, it's just avoiding the idiots going sideways with a look of terror on their faces...
