Anyone live in Basildon?

I am interested in a property, a new build called "Beechwood village". Its next to craylands. But they are knocking it down.

But I have read the residents will be offered a property in the village.

Would you live there? Any locals able to provide any information?

Far nicer places to live in South Essex IMHO.

Why does Basildon appeal ?

Born and bred, still work in Laindon but now live in Little Baddow. Although proud of my roots, I can safely say "Village" and "Basildon" don't go together.

Craylands is most probably one of, if not the worst part of Basildon. If they are knocking it down the animals sorry, inhabitants, will have to be moved elsewhere, Beechwood village?

I use to work with some one round tht area. in short young "ganges" named after there postcode e.g SS14 crew. lots of drugs crime and I wouldnt leave a nice car park on the road side. Chelmsford is 10 times better. that said westland esate and melborn are now to be a little ruff in chelmsford bit iv spent time in the area and I would day is even close to the stores iv heard.

p.s if you move there anyway i know a good dealer in anything in layden hills LOL.

I unfortunately live in Basildon. The wife won't move further afield from the parents.

The new build will be a dump just like the rest of craylands within 3 years. Best to stay clear imo. I wouldn't live there.

If you want to live in Basildon, then Kingswood is a bit better. Just make sure you live on the proper side of the road

On a whole though it's not bad. "Chavam" in Kent is far worse imo.

Oi oi mate, being a Basildonian for the last 26 years and living close to but not in Craylands I can say with good authority that it's an a**ehole of a place and well worth avoiding, it's well known for muggings, domestic violence, car thefts etc. Many taxi drivers refuse to go there and it features in the local papers for unsavoury reasons on a weekly basis.
Nuff said?

If Basildon really is where you'd like to go try Kingswood, Lee Chapel South, Fryerns, Lee Chapel Nortth areas in that order. The Others like Barstable, Felmores, Vange are not very nice either.
