Does anyone on here know if you can still drive on it? People used to use it to learn the basics of how to drive on before they were 17 as it was basically a big old area with nothing to crash into but I heard it was blocked off (I haven't been over there for years)Is that the case or can you still get onto it?

Many thanks

Paul

I don't think that you can anymore; believe that it's own by local farmer / power station - we were down there couple of weeks ago & no sign of how to access (car).

Be interested if this isn't the case though.

If you look on google earth there's one bit that looks like it's been made into some sort of a track, then had a load of rubble dumped on one of the "corners" laugh

Green belt motor club hold a stage rally on it every year - 'The Essex Charity Stages Rally' so that might explain the 'tracks'.

I didn't realise there was such a thing, mind you I only found out about the "Dengie Marshes" Cycling tour earlier this year, some interesting stuff going on in that neck of the woods!

I went and had a look, but forgot to update the thread - sorry!!
Yes, the airfield is still there…. However, the amount that you can drive on has been reduced!! It would appear that the farmer has claimed some for himself!!

Apologies for the delay.
