Hi all

I have a 1991 xr2i its mercury grey the bodywork in general is in very good conditionnrust and dent wise but over the years its had panels replaced and painted at different times and its now starting to show a bit in the different shades of grey i now want to get the whole car resprayed but have no idea how much i am looking at i am quite happy to stip the car down ie remove all lights glass doors bumpers etc and refit myself.

so how much would i be looking at i want a decent cheap job even if it only lasts me a couple of years??

Or the other option would be to spray it myself i have a unit and a good compressor but have never sprayed anything of this size and have no idea about flash off etc!!

Help please people

£500 should be enough for a decent respray.

How much eek

Paint costs a lot these days,I reckon if you prep, and do the flatting off between coats yourself, you still be looking at close to 1k anything less would be a 'Blow over'
Depends how much of a show finish you want for a start, and is the car worth doing in the first place.
My car aint much bigger than a XR2,and it cost over 3k,a year ago,so end of day, you get what you pay for.

which 1/4 of the car are you wanting to respay, the materials for my respray were more than that.

for a good job I'd be looking at £1500-2500

My 7 series classic is being painted at the moment and that was nearly 1700 pounds to have painted, its not just paint its the labour involved in doing the job too

Thanks i really dont know what to do im not silly and know the car is not worth alot probably 1k most but looking longer ahead it will go up in value (hopefully) so it would be a long term investment as opposed to spraying it to sell it and make a return on it.

I think i will get some price to do the worst bits and go from there.
