Is it just me, or is everyone else getting severely hacked off with the Dartford crossing!!
It took over an hour to get through it early yesterday evening!!
Our inept government who is continually banging on about reducing car emissions.
But yet they are happy to sit back and watch the continual traffic jams at the crossing - surely it can't be anything
To do with revenue!!!!!! (silly me for even thinking that!!).

I mean how hard can it be….. Either charge double, but just in one direction - and there you go you've reduced 50%
of the congestion / misery and pollution.
Or, install number plate recognition - and you pay in advance just like Ken and Boris's congestion charge!!

I can only agree with you, but more and more I find sunday evening the worst time to travel, and will do my upmost to avoid it if possible!

They already have a recognition system in place to pick up Dart Tags.

Beats me why more people don't have a tag. Don't people realise it's 50p a journey cheaper!!!

You wanna try living in dartford.....i can tell if the tunnel approach is shot by looking out my window and seeing if the traffic has stopped!!
(oh and if you live in dartford and jump through enough hoops, you get it for 20p a trip...) smile

The dartford toll is a con furious I thought this had payed for itself a couple of years ago ????

As for waiting for an hour to get through last year I got stuck there for three hour's confused All so they could collect there £1.50 mad

This government go's on about reducing pollution / congestion but only if they can make money .

They would rather you choke on fume's than miss out on a few quid .

I've got a tag but rarely use it, it's the best 1 I find as saves looking for change in the car and the money on it doesn't expire and the tag is FREE

..because instead of just taking a pound coin off you they now have to give me change for a twenty pound note, every time I have to use it, and when they say "thank you" I reply "don't mention it". s

D'yknow what I think of this?

This is what I thunk of this;

Many cars, finely tuned operation going through at, say, 10,000 per hour. Then, all of a sudden, the automatic machine takes TWICE as long to count the coins. You can here it happen and, I myself, throw in £1.50, go to drive away and have to wait a split second while it counts. I think those split seconds on everyone's through-time has taken it down to, say, 7500 per hour which means the queues are bigger. A small thing, but on EVERY car it has a massive affect!

Answer, never.

Blame the French though as our leader flogged it couple of years back to pay for his retirement.

Oddly we were talking about the gold sales in the office earlier in the week. Defies belief to have sold off then. Similar to the D Crossing though, stop selling important parts of the Country. Major infrastructure should remain in HM Gov hands & not be traded. Gas, water, elec, rail etc etc all out of our hands now. Crazy situation.

yep madness

Its a joke that my Dart tag is pre-pay too. My french toll tag costs me nothing when I dont use it then 2 Euro the month I do use it plus the tolls on my credit card.

.....and as for the sore excuse for a bill. What a pointless piece of crap. I want an itemised bill so I can check off my crossings with my expenses. My employer would like that to.
