Afternoon All,

not posting much anymore due to new job and limited internet time now...

I am working on getting my faithful old hack back onto the road, but where its been sat idle for quite some time (11 months) the tax and mot have expired.

Would somebody possibly have a trailer and a tow car that I could borrow (not me physically, but your time) one weekend in order to get the old lass to the MOT test?

I would be more than happy to pay for time and fuel in both cash and alcoholic beverage as it would be a massive favour.

I am based on the isle of sheppey, and the test centre will be there aswell. The old hack is a smidge on the low side though, which may not be so helpful, although my drive has a bit of a slope we could utilise to to make things easier!

Many thanks

Can't you just book it in at the test centre and drive there.

So long as it's insured and booked in you can drive it there and back without MOT or Tax IIRC.

If you have an MOT appointment, you're allowed to drive it there yes

Need to double check on tax tho - with no MOT how do you tax it (if you see what I mean)?

Driving an untaxed vehicle to an MOT test

You can drive your vehicle to and from a pre-arranged test at an MOT test station as long as you have adequate insurance cover in place for the use of that vehicle.

This is also for vehicles being driven to and from a pre-arranged test at a Vehicle Inspection Check (VIC) test station, an approved weight testing station and reduced pollution test.

Be aware you can only drive from one location to your pre-booked MOT test. If stopped and you are 3 miles from home in the wrong direction for the test centre you're likely to get a fine or more.

Yep, that's very true. And with ANPR cameras installed in most police vehicles now, all it would take is for you to drive anywhere near a police car and your car will flag up as not having an MOT - which means they WILL stop you if at all possible.

Not yet, have a few more jobs to do first before then, I am hoping either this weekend or next for the MOT. Thinking I will do a few jobs on it tonight and take it from there.

So your local MOT station is fully booked, but the one 10 miles away had a free slot... wink
