Mmmmm will the daily commute be better or worse? Speed limit to be raised from 40 - 50 Mph tho.

Times I've used the A13 in the morning I've never got above about 3mph so doubt it'll make any difference.

Outside of rush hour I regularly see cars hammering along so guess that these are intended to catch them, although you can't fine untaxed, uninsured cars... rolleyes

Problem is that these bd things are spreading & there's fk all that can be done about it.

I use this section every day as I work at Canning Town. If they produced system to make drivers use lanes properly then that would make road safer. It is one of the worst roads I kbnow for outside lane huggers .Normally inside lane empty. Of an afternoon and evening speed limit does not matter as we only crawl anyway.
If the police had a drive to get drivers to drive in correct lane and change lanes properly then our roads in general would be much safer.
I always enjoy driving abroad as continentals have good lane discipline and therefore I think pay attentiojn more than the lane huggers I follow most mornings

ive never understood why 3 lanes of London bound A13 traffic has to stop so that a couple of cars coming the other way can turn right. Stupid road design, as there is an off slip just down the road where anyone wishing to turn right could come off, go under the A13 and rejoin London bound to take the exit - without stopping hundreds of cars.

Essex answer to everything these days appears to be spec cameras

The A13 there must be one of the roads with the most ridiculous speed limit of all. The other end at Southend is a 40mph as well and yet that has driveways, schools...........

Ben Plowden, director of integrated programmes at Transport for London, which runs the project, said: “Traditional safety cameras are very effective at reducing the numbers of people killed or seriously injured on London's roads.

Really? I thought true national figures proved otherwise. As this 'new' A13 stretch always had them I'll guess we will never know as there wont be any figures without them to compare.

From using this road daily I get the impression that most accidents happen near the Ripple road/River road lights and the Lodge avenue flyover area and from the few I've seen are caused by bad lane discipline and random lane changes. As someone else said, do away with the lights and ban right turns. Make the junction/roundabout at Goresbrook work quicker and improve lane markings and discipline at the Lodge avenue flyover and there would be a considerable cut in accidents.
Most of the traffic only travels at 40-50mph (when possible)anyway so I doubt these cameras will make any difference apart from the people who don't get how these cameras work and rush up to them and slam on their brakes causing more problems.

My thoughts exactly. And if it queues it nicely blocks the outside lane. I was almost taken out by a car jinking around the queue and clipping the stationary car. I was already moving into the inside lane to avoid such an occurrence but only some speedy steering and the BMW handling saved me from him.

Yep, just this morning i was following Mr mundano overtaking a few cars i was returning to inside (it was empty) Mr mundano didnt move, same speed nothing to overtake but he was wedged in the outside lane for 4/5 miles. THEN as he approaches the canning town flyover realises he wants to exit here so swiftly crosses 3 lanes to exit......jester The lane disipline of some black cabs is just as bad tho.
