My Dad hit a pothole t'other day and has cracked the rim of one of his alloys. Does anyone know of anyone in Kent/East Sussex who can weld the rim.

I'm due to be taking the car to the Alps next Friday so fairly urgent, I'm not doing 1500miles on the space saver!!!

Lepsons in based in kent and are always welding alloy wheels as part of the refurbishment process !!

I am not sure if they would just weld the wheel or you may have to book it in for full refurb !

Ask for chris when you ring !!

Normally Debbie answers the phone and i am not sure if she would know!!

Is it safe to just weld a cracked rim?

too many factors involved to answer that one with out seeing the wheel , where the crack is , what alloy is it made off , how big and deep the crack is etc !!

I do know that lepsons tend on the side of caution with welding and do turn away welding work when it would be fine to weld , but you would not want your wheel to fail while driving !!

There is a company on the web that i have seen where they have welded scrap wheels which look beyond repair , which needs to be seen to believe !!

I can't remember the name will post as soon as i remember !

Lepsoms did our espada and gallardo wheels, fantastic job on both. Didnt have any welding done but did see some of their work at the time.

Thanks folks. I've bought a replacement (albeit different style) wheel for now as neither of the places relatively locally could guarantee it before the weekend. It was Lepsons and Spit and Pollish in Tonbridge who I was considering, both about £35 for the welding, and Lepsons says £63 to weld and refurbish.
