Anyone been there/live there?

What a weird, weird place! Went over yesterday to look at a car for my nephew - you have to be signed in at the gate and are then told where you can and can't go. Absolutley masses of land either side of the very long access road but the whole place is like a ghost town - saw a tiny village and then a load of farm buildings and some barracks and that was about it. Plenty of roads with 'No Tanks' sign up wobble

I felt like I'd been transported back to the 50's - couldn't wait to get out of there, especially as it was just starting to get dark and snowing quite hard. I've lived near there for almost 40 years and never had cause to go there before and am pretty sure I won't be rushing back!

At least we bought the car biggrin

Hello darling wavey

Been there a few times many years ago for the ploughing match... don't ask whistle

The pub is the only one owned by the MOD and really is like a scene from Deliverence or American Werewolf when it gets dark yikes

Is that a euphemism? biggrin

There were two pubs apparently - both now closed. Possibly due to lack of passing trade? tongue out

Agreed re the Deliverance comment - 'What is it you require of me?' 'I require you to get your ass in that goddam experimental establishment' biggrin

Give me a call when you get a chance - need an update on your situation thumbup
