On the way out of Clacton at the weekend a very suspicious looking van was parked in one of the laybys. It had rear facing (s)cameras, but was marked up as Essex County Council 'Highway Maintenance'. I knew it looked iffy and said to the wife why do EC need camera vans for highways maintenance, and low and behold a mile up the road an unmarked Vectra had pulled someone over.

Watch out!

It was on the A127 yesterday lunchtime Southend bound near the A128 junction, same sign on the back of the van parked in a layby between two Artic's, marked traff pol cruising ahead in an ST220 who pulled into the Halfway House pub.

It's bad enough that the camera's are out and about in the first case, but I seriously think it's out of order to mark the van as 'highway maintenance'

Cheers, seem to be lots of vans lurking in laybys at the moment esp on A130. Not seen that van but thanks for the warning. Watch out for the tosser on a black motorbike often bothering people on the A414 out of Chelms. Seen a dark green Volvo estate on the A414 recently as well.
