Hi All

After having 2 different occassions where pistonhead members have contacted me to ask if the recent post about a south east tuner who is in court for causing £7000 of damage was something to do with me or do i know who it is !

This post in question was stopped by big Al which is totally the correct action needed for such a post !

This forum is for helping members and has a good vibe compaired to some car forums which are just sgging matches !

As i carry out the same type of work as the tuner in question and am also based in the same area the result from that post could cause damage to other parties even thou its nothing to do with them !

I feel deeply sorry for the person who wrote the post as i know about the company who damaged the car in question months ago !
And he is not the only person with the same sort of problem with them .

Just the make the point clear it has nothing to do with me or my company and dont try to find out who it is as it is not for me to say!

Posts like that can end up hurting the wrong companys

rant over biggrin

I agree with your comments and have seen many occassions over the past few years where such "blame" threads have been started by aggravated PH members, and even people who have specifically joined PH to vent their spleens. The PH policy of not naming and shaming is one that I agree with as much damage could be caused to businesses by allowing people to write whatever they please based on a one sided point of view of a particular issue.

However, if as appears in this case the original poster you refer to takes a supplier to court and wins their case then perhaps they should be allowed to post details of the disagreement on a PH forum. After all once a judgement has been handed down it is a matter of public record and other people should have to opportunity to read the bad points of certain suppliers as well as the good points that get posted here with boring regularity.

PS: Nice web site with a good piece on detailing. If I'm successful in picking up a nice Escort Cosworth in the new year I'll certainly come down and see you about detailing the car for me thumbup

Ph has a no Naming and Shaming policy for and I would imagine that said policy would cover any possible actions and outcome against a company.

FIRSTLY I WOULD LIKE TOO APOLOGISE TO ALL PROFESSIONAL TUNNG COMPANYS IN THE KENT AREA IF MY "AXE TO GRIND " THREAD WAS TAKEN THE WRONG WAY.I AGREE WITH YOUR POLICY ON sgGING OFF COMPANYS WITH OUT PROOF..BUT AS A CAR FORUM FOR CAR ENTHUSIATS I THINK THAT COWBOY CAR MECHANICS SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF ALL MEMBERS..LIKE ALL OF YOU MY CAR IS MY PRIDE AND JOY AND I WORK HARD TO PAY FOR IT.

SO WHEN AN INDIVIDUAL GIVES THE SALES PATTER IN HIS VERY WELL LAID OUT WORK SHOP THAT LOOKS PROFESSIONAL BUT THE QUALITY OF HIS WORK IS FROM THAT I THINK OTHER PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW HOW INCOMPETENT THIS INDIVDUAL IS SO THAT THEY WONT HAVE TO GO THROUGH WHAT I DID. WHEN QUOTED 1 WEEK AND IT TAKES 14 AND THEN WHEN I GET MY CAR BACK IT HAS A HOLED PISTON AND DAMAGE TO 4 OTHER PISTONS YOU WOULD BE PISSED OFF AS WELL... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/7.gif

THIS PERSON AT NO POINT MADE ANY OFFER TO APOLOGISE OR TO PUT RIGHT THE MESS HE MADE OF MY CAR EVEN WHEN HE WAS GIVEN THE OPPTUNITY .HIS ATTITUDE WAS ONE OF STUFF U NOT MY PROBLEM. THOSE PEOPLE THAT KNOW ME ALSO KNOW THAT IVE AN OLD FASHION WAY OF DEALING WITH PEOPLE LIKE THIS INDIVIDUAL , WHICH WOULD HAVE GIVEN ME ABOUT 2 MINS OF SATISFACTION HOW EVER I WOULD BE THE ONE IN COURT..

SO AT MY EXPENSE I TOOK THIS W***** TO COURT IT TOOK NEARLY 2 YEARS BUT YESTERDAY I WON .
IM SORRY THAT PEOPLE FEEL THAT THIS SORT OF INFO SHOULD BE KEPT HIDDEN OR BRUSHED TO ONE SIDE.
I COULD SAY MORE , I COULD NAME THIS COMPANY BUT IM NOT GOING TOO I BELIEVE IN WORD OF MOUTH ASK A ROUND NOT TO HARD TO FIND OUT.

Really pleased that you got a result. No body should have to put up with the situation that you have been through.

So just for any future clarification.

The N&S ruling applies whatever the case, regardless of whether there has been a court ruling on the case in question or not.

HTH

BTW please turn of your CAPS LOCK as it is considered RUDE to shout. smile

Al, as far as I can see, the PH rules only refer to not posting accusations about malpractice - surely discussion should be allowed about a court judgement, as long as the discussion remains about the facts brought before the court and not further unsubstantiated accusations.

Court judgements are discussed daily elsewhere on PH whether it be civil or criminal.

Mattt that may be the case but until HM change the rules we as moderators can only use those in print as a yard stick.

You've flagged up I'll make sure it gets addressed. smile

Such a pity that anyone has this kind of experience in the first place. Hope it's all sorted.
