Thanks for your input into this some people had me frightened half to death others made me feel less concernedsmile anyway my court appearance was today and i hired a solicitor to represent me (if any one wants his details pm me through my profile) the upshot of it is i got 6 points and £445 fine plus costs, having a solicitor present and the fact that i have had a clean driving licence for 25 years, my employer being very much dependent on my ability to get around made a huge difference, but the legal reresentation i think probably got me out of a very awkward situation and saved my licence.

Well done Paul. Although in these instances I often wonder if it's better to take a 30 day ban and zero points, rather than risk being on six points for three years with the obvious risk of what happens with 2 minor infringements of say 44 in a 40 etc.

I no where your coming from on that one but the option wasnt offered and i sure as hell wasnt going to ask for it, my biggest fear was putting me on 11 points with a fine and then i would deffinetly rather have taken the ban.

In 1995 I instructed a lawyer and thought he did a great job in getting me just 6 points AND a 14 day ban, when I got caught on an empty road by one of the first mobile gatsos in the country. Your lawyer is obviously brigher than mine. hehe

I've subsequently been told it is impossible to have both ban and points. Although after one of these court cases it's a great relief to know it's sorted. I was just delighted with the fourteen day ban and not losing my job.

Things did get a bit scarey when I had 18 months on 9 points though (42 in a 30 when I thought it was a 40). banghead

Good result for a ton & 7.
Shows it pays to take a brief into court with you.
Unfair on those that can't or don't believe they need to.
Justice for you...eh?! rolleyes

How much did the 'brief' cost you in the end out of curiosity?
