Methane vents; my ar5e!The field is on quite a slope and is only small. The concrete tubes are about 2 metres in diametre and about 1.5 m high and I have seen official looking people measuring something in the tubes on a few occasions.
I thought it might be the Eurostar tunnel but I thought it was much further round the M25.
Definately not drainage.
There was quite a bit of work done there about 4 years ago.
It is on the RHS going anticlockwise not far from the services between caterham and Sevenoaks.
Its bugging me now.

No where near the Eurostar line as it runs along the M20 up under Bluebell Hill to the M2 and runs along that to Ebbsfleet. The rings are standard drainage rings and they were put in as I think they had a drainage/subsidence problem. Could be to monitor future movement ?
what so the sheep dont fall over in a dip?xjandy said:
Anyone have any idea what the concrete tubes in the field next to the M25 between Caterham and Sevenoaks are for? Someone seems to be monitoring something.Been there for a couple of years now and often wondered what they are for.
Interoute are responsible for that section of motorway as far as maintenance. If you really need to know give them a call on 01634 385500It's for drainage, there was a landslide there a few years ago. Here's a rather hefty report into how it was sorted out:
