The BiB really seem to have upped there game on the A120 between Stansted and Braintree. Virtually every time I go along there now (several times a week) I see either a marked car or a bike fielding a long range camera along that section. MO is that they seem to prefer the Dunmow to Braintree section and wait for folks to come bowling over the summits of those rolling hills. There was also what looked to be a plain car that pulled someone on the Dunmow-Stansted section the other night. Couldn't see what type of car it was though due to the dark.

That's a shame, it's a nice road!

Came along there yesterday, bike in the layby before Rayne turnoff, pulled a 4x4, then a bit further up at the exit for Braintree another bike pulled a BMW compact, I nipped home picked the dog up got back in the car so about 15mins drove back onto A120 and the bike copper had pulled a Cayenne up on the other exit!

Always a bit weary of that road as I know quite a few people have been done along there so I do try and stick to the limit although it is such a nice road it can be hard at times.

It's almost entrapment - to build a road like that and then put speed traps on it!

Depends - dual carriageway sections with the central reservation are 70 unless otherwise posted - the long straights with no central reservation are 60 unless otherwise posted. AFAIK that is.

I said it was bad, but I hadn'r expected so many folks to have seen the same sort of thing as me. Couple of my neighbours were moaning about it as well.

I've noticed them hiding at the top of the sliproad from the Dunmow/old A120 entrance on the Dunmow to Braintree side - they watch for cars speeding past below them and then give chase.

They also sit on the bridge near the BP station and wait for someone travelling fast heading towards Braintree....

They use unmaked Volvo V7s too - dark colour (blue?)

There are also ANPR cameras along that road and I heard from a friend that they pulled someone he knows because the time readings between each ANPR that senesed his car reg meant he was somewhat in excess of the speed limit.

The person couldn't be charged with anything but was pulled over and given a warning, so be careful out there!!

Watch the 50mph section under the flightpath for Stansted - they park up on the Braintree bound side round the bend.
