Inter - Car Club Gokart Challenge
Discussion
Check out the full info in the kit-car section, we have organised an Inter-car- club go-kart challenge at Buckmore Park on Saturday 12th April 2008. There are already about 12 teams entered, and it would be nice to have some more PISTONHEADS teams. I have got a deal where we get the use of the faster ThunderKarts for the 2-hour enduro, at a reduced cost of £195 per team (usually £230 in 2008) Only stipulation is that you enter under a team name regarding your car club for Clarity, ie: Pistonheads, Lotus, Porsche ect. And NO pit-to kart radios ect to keep it fair. Will be a great event, the car park should look spectacular.. So get a team entered!
2,3 or 4. 2 is hard work, but by far the fastest if you are both good and can handle 1 hour solid driving. 3 is ideal and 4 means you may lose a couple of laps due to the number of driver changes. To win, you must think along the lines of 3 drivers doing 40 minues straight each, on the 3rd driver getting in, tie up with the re-fuelling. But in realinty most teams will be doing 3 guys, two 20 minute stints each. It is only fun after all!
i wouldnt say im that regular to the kart track anymore, but last time i went (last summer) i did an hour and 15 stint due to one girl in my team deciding she hated it and the other guy in the team decided it was best to sit out for a lil bit due to him being spun more often than driving
3 sounds a good number, then we can sort the stints etc from there

Am I going mad, or did someone post on here earlier this week to join the Essex/Kent team. Sounded like a fast driver - some podium experience?
Team conference yesterday, (all two of us) and we agreed to take a 3rd driver if suitably qualified. ie. Lewis Hamilton, the Stig or similar and will help us climb the leader board.
Whoever it was, feel free to PM me.
Reminder of the cost: £195 for the team, two hours racing, split three ways - £65 and @40 minutes each in the Kart.
I can chauffeur to the circuit if travelling from Chelms/Braintree area.

That would be me. I raced with Club100 for 4 years (see pic in profile). Although I have only been in a kart a couple of times in the last two years.
I know Buckmore Park well as Club100 used to start and finish their season there as its one of the few tracks with floodlights.
Im based in Orpington so the track is only 40mins away. I was having second thoughts but if your still interested I would like to race with your team.

Nope.
Dont think so, but there is usually one compulsory fuel stop which cannot co-incide with driver change. Team Essex/Kent therefore has three stops.
Other teams with 2 drivers (doubt there'll be many) will stop twice, so we'll probably lose 30-45 seconds on them max. Perhaps you worry a little too much, we'll be fine & it's the taking part that counts.... ;-)
Cotty, with your CV, you should be able to make that up in 5 laps?

Thats funny Buckmore Park usually let you driver change on a fuel stop, as the driver has to get out of the kart anyway.I once lost a three hour endurance race by ten seconds, so I try not to lose time anywhere.
