Thinking of paying a visit to Mersea Island on Sunday but not sure when the island is accessible due to the tides.

High tides is at 00:40 and 11:55 so I presume the island is cut off at those times but when is the island accessible either side of this?

Thanks.

Website says allow 1.5 hours either side of high tide times to be able to cross the causeway and

says emergency services are on constant standby for those ignoring rising waters.

What website is that? I'm on West Mersea tide times and can't see anything like that!

I'd actually been in that website but obviously didn't look closely enough.

Thanks.

The Strood will usually only be covered in tides that are over 5.00m however 4.80m and wind could cause issues.

So its worth having a look at the height and having a think as it may not affect you.
