I know the phrase "shat-nav" is a cliche but my word I wanted to destroy mine last night! Fairly significant 30-40min hold up at the Bridge as I was coming home at around 4.30pm yesterday, so the satnav recommended the B-road route parallel from J29-31 that brings you out at 31 Thurrock. Fine, 10 mins quicker done it before - it's been a hit and miss alternative route before but I was knackered after having driven to Bradford and back and decided to chance it. All was fine until the J31 roundabout which was like the worst circle of purgatory!! Almost totally stationary, due it seemed to just selfishness from everyone blocking yellow box junctions . After being static for 20-25 mins I managed to squeeze through some HGVs and then my tired and stressed self saw that an HGV was blocking an empty lane leading up to the M25 and I could've nipped up and been on my way in minutes but you know when you see what you need to do but....don't!! So for some reason I went down to Lakeside which was utter hell, and by chance did a loop back up to the A13 at J30 and very slowly onto the M25 that way...

So a 10 min "saving" turned into about 1.5hours extra!! So just another side effect of driving tired - logic and decision making do go out the window!

Anyone know why it was so bad??

I have to say if the Lorries didn't block the junctions life would be a damn sight easier on that roundabout.

Surely you're not telling me that there weren't a couple of Highways Agency vehicles on site to stop this sort of thing happening and enable to traffic to move better?????
