Guys, my bank has called me tonight due to a red flag on my debit card.

Following a process of elimination it seems that the ATM at the Tesco/Esso garage in South Ockendon is not a nice place to withdraw cash.

It seem that very often the local garage you use most often can be the culprit - I guess its down to some of the more 'transitory' nature of staff working in this places?

I also had a issue with a ATM at a local BP garage at Bournes Green in Thorpe Bay last week. The key ATM buttons which you need to use didn't work, so it keeps the card in the machine. when i asked for help from the 2 people working in the garage they were not helpful at all and didn't come out to help me, clearly the guy behind the counter couldn't but the guy on the forecourt could have tried to help.

what got me suspicious was that this must have happened to other people and yet there was no notice on the ATM + when i left they i watched them and they didn't go out to the machine ti put any out of order notice on it, so clearly would have happened to someone else. i had to cancel my card straight away as just didn't trust the guys working there...for the very fact they couldn't care less.

This garage used to be run by different and friendly people before, now its clearly changed hands and won't be using them even again + I've learnt my lesson, never use a garage forecourt ATM.

Wow - I used to use them a lot and they always seemed fairly helpful and friendly. Your experience is noted, thanks!

Credit to HSBC - new debit card issued, all unauthorised transactions refunded and a "Thank You for being a loyal customer" call from some dude in an office.

I feel special now. laugh

On a serious note, be very careful with your cards lads and lasses.
