Can anyone recommend somewhere in the Essex area to have a carb tuned up? It's not on anything flashy, just my mk1 fiesta 1.1. It's just got a bit of a flat spot and as I've only just bought the car I don't know the last time the carb was given a once over.

Ta,
Matt.

Matt,

Is this some type of reverse midlife crisis? Your supposed to get a flame spitting monster car!.

Carbs are a dying art and most places still around will only really cater for Webers and such. Unless you plumb for a Weberdealer rolling raod like ATSPEED in Rayleigh, your best bet is Yell and search for a home tuner/electrican who has been in business for 25years.

Don't expect the single carb on your fiesta not to need a rebuild though.

Lol I know. Always had a soft spot for a mk1 fiesta. Dad and Grandad had one when I was a kid. I probably won't have it long. But if I keep it I'd like to go for a 2.0 zetec on twin 45s.

Yeah it'll probably need a rebuild. Just kind of hoping it doesn't lol.

What have you got now?

Actually thinking about it they rebuilt my Dad's twin choke webber on his 1.3 escort years back. When they'd finished it was quicker than a 2.8 Granada. Will have to give them a shout to see if they'd look at the little single pot webber that's on the mk1.

Phew, I was worried you had gone all 'carbon footprint' on us.

A Zetec will go well in there with a 5speed series two turbo box. 170bhp straight out of the box on 45's and pre mapped ECU. Plenty of carbs and cheap ignition systems on Locostbuilder kit car forum.

Not had an impreza since 2008 now. Still have a Forester, but that is in the process of being replaced by an RS4.

Fun these days is via a Proton GTI hatchback, with a Forged EVO Lump and matching AWD system fitted. Drives very much like a classic STI.

Might only be a 1.1 but its chucking fuel in. Def not helping the carbon footprint lol. Going to have a tinker at the weekend.

RS4 is a very tidy replacement. Going for the blue?

Proton sounds like a beast. Bet that's good fun!

I've not had a scoob for a few years now. To be honest I don't miss it that much. My Dad still has YVMs old wagon if I do need a scoob fix though.
