Does anyone know of a beach in Gods own county where we could take our dog for the day tomorrow, 31 August?

Really struggling to find somewhere that isn't Canvey or Mersea Islands?

All suggestions gratefully received and considered.

Excellent - I prefer Walton to the other places along that part of Essex coast, much more compact and to my liking.

We parked by the Tower and after taking tea went down the cliffs and found a warm sunny bit of beach to ourselves. The dog was like a puppy again!

Had a quick look in town, where the beach looked fabulous for families. We'll definitely be back again.

There are parts of Walton beach where you can't walk dogs.
There are signs on the sea wall and maps on posts above the promenade.
Basically looking out to sea they are allowed to the left of the pier until you reach the beach huts. Then they're prohibited till you pass the huts and reach the naze, then they're allowed again.

There were signs saying no dogs in the main town beach area to the left of the pier, which seemed perfectly fair to us to be honest. We did walk down to the beach huts and saw the signs.

I used Two Tree island all year round when I had dogs, it's off the beaten track, so to speak, so was a bit quiter, virtually no beach when the tides is in but they loved the water in such a big way it didn't matter and you can walk round the island.
Found by following the road next to Leigh on sea station over the bridge round to the slip way.

Spent many hours water skiing off Two Tree Island a lifetime ago.

Wasn't quite what I wanted this weekend though. We do a nice walk though by parking at Leigh station, train into Sarfend and walk back ending with lunch in old Leigh.
