Discussion
without wishing to go too far OT, I was wondering whether this might be amusing:

It's nearby, cheap, not too hard on the car, limited scope to bang into each other and perhaps even a crafty competitive component.
Anyone any thoughts?

Doubt its suitable for the Radical.
I don't see why not? All sorts turn up and I've always had loads of fun no matter what car I've taken - I took my Lambo & Exige last week, however have also taken a Morgan Aero 8 and a Boxster in the past. The only thing is I stuck to the larger of the two courses in the afternoon as the Lambo isn't really nimble enough for the smaller course. Loads of fun, particularly with the ESP turned off! They quite often have Atoms there too - there was a supercharged one on the day we did. I was actually quite surprised that the Lambo didn't get closer to the Atom's time (it was on road tyres) but then the straights weren't really long enough to give our brakes the cooling they needed.

I don't think it's worth using sticky tyres on days like this, I save mine for "proper" trackdays and always use road tyres at North Weald. It's a hilarious day, a chance to hoon in complete safety and get your car all out of shape without fear of accident etc. I've learnt more about car control on these days then any other activity I've done, and it's great to see such a variety of cars in action

I took the opportunity whilst I was off work to swap out the engine for the forged internal replacement. The trouble is that I am still waiting for the turbo to be rebuilt, so I cannot do any miles before I go back to work.http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/trackdays/car-ca...

Otherwise I would be up for,a BH day.
September might be possible, but only for an evening session.

We always do one of these whenever we get a new car; like you say, great way of getting to know your car when it's near the limit.
The surface is OK. There are a few stones. I think the Lambo picked up a couple of stone chips when the instructor took it out. I guess most people take the same sort of lines so the stones only tend to be if you take really different lines or you spin.
The only downside for me is I now need new rear tyres
My OH has done the 4 person day - same format however much more intensive/more instruction/less waiting around - and he loved it. Personally I like the activity days as you get to chat to everyone as you are waiting, there's usually a nice mix of cars, and it's not too intensive, plus it doesn't usually wreck your tyres.
I've done a few Activity days now, and I've found that only the edges of the tyres get scrubbed and hardly wear at all, that said we anyways go for a wet day for maximum hooning! The surface is OK. Would anyone be interested in the GP trackday on Wed 4th september ?
I'd be keen if we could get a group discount..
sadly thats a no go for me. I'd be keen if we could get a group discount..
Have you personally negotiated a discount or is this a generic discount that MSV offer to group bookings ?
