I saw this car a couple of months back on a dual carriageway, had a little play with it and it just left me behind - I don't know what had been done to it, but it was seriously quick

A couple of days back I happened to see it parked up in Sidcup but the owner wasn't around. I ran the reg through a checker and it came up as an Opel Manta 1.6L, but I'd be extremely surprised if it's still got that engine.

Anyone know anything about it? I think it's a great looking car and would be interested to know what's been done to it

This guy seems to have built it:

I just googled the registration.

The A series is the car designation, not the engine.

Garry Xxxxx brought his A Series in to have a Calibra turbo motor installed. The engine bay was stripped out, repainted and the new engine went in. With over 200 BHP, new brakes were required. 280mm vented discs are fitting along with wilwood four pots. They look too through the spokes of Garry’s lovely 17″ wheels.

I think the styling is deliberate to look like one of the old broadspeed cars. http://www.mantaclub.org/archive/manta_a_turbo.htm

Thanks for that - believe it or not I never even thought of googling the reg. Looks like a lot of time has been invested in it, bet it's great fun to drive!

My pleasure.

I was intrigued by it.
