Simple answer is how much money have got to spend?? Houses round here go up to £1m plus...4 bed across the road from on the market for 2 weeks sold for £600K..if you want rural..Otham is nice...Bearsted is very expensive. If you have kids then you need to be around Maginford, or Bearsted for junior schools. If you have older kids..then Valley Park is probably the best none Grammar School on the East side of Maidstone. Grammar School..either Invicta for Girls, or Maidstone Girls Grammar or Maidstone Grammar School for Boys. All the schools work on how close you are to it. So find the school and then house. It is actually not bad here..areas to stay out of all as previously said.

I was going to ask where the fk Valley Park is. Two years there before going to grammar school was enough.

There's only two proper grammar schools in Maidstone. Boys grammar in Barton Road and girls grammar by the Queens club.

I grew up at Penenden Heath, moved to Larkfield when I got married and now live on the outskirts of Linton. It's an expensive place to live.

Where you work will be a big factor on where you live. I'm six miles from junction six of the M20. That's a thirty minute journey in rush hour.

Penenden Heath is only five minutes from the same junction.

Valley Park School is an Acadamy and next to Invicta Girls Grammar. It is now in the top 100 of schools in the UK. Over the past 8 or so years it has transformed into what is now a brilliant school. There are 2 boys and 2 girls grammar schools in Maidstone. Invicta, MGGS, MGS and Oakwood Park Grammar which is on the same site as Mid Kent College. I personally like Maidstone but, spend more time overseas now. But what ever..it isn't cheap here but has advantages..channel tunnel 25 mins..on a good day 45 mins in the city by car. Under and hour by train to Victoria (on a good day).
