Hi chaps,

My once reasonable but busy M20>M26>M25>A23 commute has turned from annoying to a complete nightmare since the "Managed motorway" roadworks M25 junc 5-7. 2 hours this morning. eek

Now, I know the M20>?M25 option, and the M20>Sidcup>Bromley>Hayes>Croydon option, and the M25 junction 4 through Keston, but are there any other options available. Leaving at 7 and coming home at 7.30 just isn't good with a young family.

Any ideas? Help.

TIA

I used to do this trip every morning and I drove through there last saturday and saw all the roadworks. Not good news for any commuters.

Have you not tried the A25?

Hi chap

Thought of that and haven't tried it. good shout as it is parallel to the M25, although I don't want to get caught up in local/school run. What's the route typically like around morning rush hour?

A25 to Westerham turn off onto B2024 cut across country come out on the Ann Summers roundabout A22 to A23 at Purley Cross should be an interesting route.

I used to work in Croydon a lot. I used to go M20/26/25 A22 or A23. The purely way as above or M20/25/A21 through Bromley and West Wickham.

It depended where abouts I was going in Croydon. The west Wickham way was pretty good if I was working right in Croydon

The A25 can be a nightmare.

Depends on what part of Croydon the OP needs to get to. If it's anywhere near the centre, from Westerham I would go B2024 to the top of Titsey Hill, then B269 to Warlingham and Sanderstead. After the A2022 roundabout take the first left into Purley Downs Road past the golf club and join the A235 here. This cuts out both the A22 and the queue at Purley Cross.

Then either follow the A235 or double back towards Purley and via Christchurch Road, Pampisford Road, and Haling Park Road.

Thanks all. The part of Croydon is by the Toyota/Lexus dealership on Purley Way.

M26>A20?A25>A22 is something I am going to try...

Poison chalice?
