Hi all

My partner lives in Grays Thurrock and I visit her at weekends once or twice a month coming down from Milton Keynes. Having had two cards vandalised on two different streets since May I've decided I need to find a better way to do this, until she can move!

I'm trying out the train this weekend from MK but with parking and the fare it comes to about £32 which is more than I used to spend in fuel, and that's a bit hard to take given the inconvience of travelling across London and then being without a car for the weekend too.

Anyone know of any "safe" car parks that have easy transport links with Grays? Or any better ideas?

PS. Apologies if this is in the wrong area....

Thanks

Nick

I think you can get a link train to Grays from Upminster Mainline/District Line station. This is on Fenchurch St line. You can park probably 10 minutes walk from Upminster station in a side street.

Are the cars a bit unusual, I know that certain areas can be overrun by drunken idiots at the weekends but that sounds incredibly unlucky, were both roads in the town centre?

I cant think of anywhere linked to grays station that is particularly secure, everywhere is just normal residential streets and carparks. I've got a few friends who live in the centre with off street parking, one secure underground opposite travis perkins who may possibly be able help if you are desperate.

Thanks for the replies all. It happened the first time in May, my Passat was keyed on Cromwell Road which is near Grays town centre. Then again last month this time to my new car (only a Nissan Qashqai), parked 10 mins walk away from the original spot. I was considerately parked so did wonder if i have been targeted.

Dont want to put anyone out as not yet desperate, so Upminster does seem a good option and will check it out. It would be worth the piece of mind to be honest. Thanks again.

Ps hopefully should be able to receive emails now, cheers!

Sounds like you were just unlucky
Could have been a random drunk or someone annoyed at you parking outside their house. People often think they own the road outside their house

Chafford hundred station is also an option
1 stop from grays, so a fair bit closer than Upminster station

Plenty of free parking at the shopping centre which has multiple covered and uncovered spaces
Never worried or had issues with leaving my elise there in 10+ years

I have a spare space around where I live - Off road and out of sight in a cul de sac.

Infact you can park anywhere in the street. Chafford Hundred so you could practically walk to Grays.
