My old Saab 900 needs an MOT and I don't have time to get up to my specialist before it expires. What I'd like to do is get a quick and dirty MOT so that I can get it to the specialist in the next few months for a full service and to tackle any little bits.

So I am looking at a garage that is happy dealing with the foibles of older cars, isn't going to manufacture work, and where I can watch!

Any suggestions?

Any council MOT centre will fit the bill.

They don't fix anything so they don't create work. They just MOT.

In Chatham I use Medway Services at Jenkins Dale (Used to be Magpie Service Station), great guys both classic nuts & very fair. My mate uses Sturla down Magpie Hall Road, has done for years & they're very good.

Now why do you want to watch, you'll just make the tester nervous.

So they don't repeatedly set the alarm off and try to drag the key out before putting the car in reverse!

I believe you live in the Bromley area, you could take it to our place in Sidcup if you like. We don't do hooky tests but we also don't look for extra work out of them. PM or email me if you want details.

Try Amos and Rushbrook on Masons Hill, Bromley, they've done 2 or 3 MOTs for me each year for the last 10 years and won't mess you about although it is my friendly reliable and local mechanic that books them in and takes them round.
