Just to warn all you people, the police have mobile speed cameras that they usually set up on Friday and Saturday nights along the A127.

For the last two weeks they have been at Childerditch near the A128 snapping people going eastbound.

Tonight they are just between the A128 and the Laindon turn off.

Each time their cars are hidden away out of sight and the cameras are only visible when you are on top of them.

Be careful,

Cheers Lee. I wonder how long 'till they start flashing the West bound traffic? I wonder how narrow the radar beem is? Might trundle down that way tomorrow to have a look.

They have been in on the eastbound carriageway just after the turn offs for Childerditch Industrial Estate, tonight they were on the hill, just past where the gypsies have been by the A128 turn off.

Virtually opposite the van rentalplace/garage.
Looks like they were setting it up tonight about 8.30.

Don't know whether they swap to westbound later to catch London bound traffic.

That's handy, thanks.

I saw a safety camera partnership Transit yesterday parked up at the side of the road.

There was no tripod or camera next to it, but one of the rear door windows was removed, and I imagine had a camera poining out of it. I couldn't really see in as it was dark inside the van, but the rear window was definatley out, and was parked in a location they always use for speed traps. I went past later in the day and there still was no sign of a tripod. I think now they don't even bother to get out of the vans & set up cameras!!

The nice camera people said:

Please note that there may be occasions when, for operational reasons, these locations may be subject to change at short notice and safety cameras may be deployed at alternative locations to those stated.

Meaning: 'We may move them elsewhere if too many people start slowing down so we can't fine them'

They are marked which makes them more visible, so I suppose that's something.

There favourite haunt recently is in Langdon Hills, High Road by the Triangle shops.

Mind you there is a school there? If it is still used?

They swap to the Westbound later - it's 'cos of the chavs going to Southend in their Nova's.

Plod also has a new trick - sending m/bikes out on a Sunday afternoon to mingle with the bikers, saw two last week within 5mins, one on the A128 between the A127 and Herongate heading towards the A127 and another on the road from Herongate through Herongate Tye to Billericay.

Talking about Langdon Hills, my area also, don't forget Mandeville way, by the pedestrian crossing bollards. They hide their car or bike in the trees.
