Firework displays - recommendations?
Discussion
We did Leeds Castle a couple of years back, display was good but traffic getting out was very bad.
Last year we went to the Sevenoaks School display, obviously not on the same scale but was pretty decent. Only downside was it was very crowded and best suited to those who are within walking distance as they close the road around the school so not sure where people were parking?

Have always heard that the displays further down towards teh coast are great: Lewes, Battle.
Or another option might be the smaller towns - such as Mayfield, Rotherfield - somehow from what i hear they manage to put on excellent shows/parades etc.
Lewes is the daddy of Bonfire Night celebrations. It's massive and the biggest in the UK. A cross between Halloween and Mardi Gras with tens of thousands attending. Think top Premiership football size crowds. Or another option might be the smaller towns - such as Mayfield, Rotherfield - somehow from what i hear they manage to put on excellent shows/parades etc.
Many roads in the town are closed and parking anywhere is at a premium. Be prepared for a long walk. http://www.eastsussex.gov.uk/roadsandtransport/par...
Unfortunately the traditional rolling of flaming tar barrels down the hill that I remember from my early days when I lived in East Sussex got banned by the H&S lot. Now they just have races along the High Street with the barrels on trolleys. A bit tame really. I don't know whether the old traditions still survive in Ottery St Mary in Devon.
Nowt going on in Mayfield or Rotherfield of note, we had our fireworks and bonfire parades in the past month.
Dunorlan park in T Wells is usually pretty good, but really busy, www.rtwrt.org

Farningham/Eynesford, the display is set in the castle with 2 beer tents and lots of burgers etc from the local butchers. It's so civilised that the firework display is in two halves so you can get another beer/burger at half time. All set to music. Best village display in the area.
For a bigger dislpay/fair Groombridge is good but sparse on beer.

I can highly recomment Wrotham too now...

And a great "size". Enough people for atmosphere, but few enough so as not to have any issues with parking, queues, etc etc...
Only complaint - they ran out of beer
