Essex Letting agent recommendations

I'm going to Let out my house in the next couple of months and am contemplating doing everything myself, how hard can it be, I'm a surveyor and my partner's a lawyer?

Or am I better off using a letting agent and washing my hands of all hassle? I've had a couple of quotes so far and the going rate appears to be about 1 month's rent for the letting fee and between 6 and 12% of rent for monthly management fee?

If I'm going to go it alone where is best to advertise the property that won't attract local undesirables and credit worthy tenants who aren't going to leave me with rental voids?

If anyone can recommend a tried and tested letting agent, I'd be grateful for their details.

Where abouts would you be letting the property out? I know of a company in Thundersley that are pretty good. The boss at work has 3 flats which he let's out without a agent and has done pretty well with it so far.
