What a depressing, horrible dive of a place it is. Even the Marks & Spencer doesn't sell its top products, like the Gastro selection.

I hope I never have to visit that place again.

On the plus side, temperatures are often the highest.

Is it worse than Chatham or Sheppey? Spent a couple of hours in Chatham while having an MOT done, what a hole. Went to Sheppey to pick up an amp from a guy off ebay. It was like something from The Hills Have Eyes.

You should have seen it before they built the new road bridge. At least now people can escape quickly hehe

Actually though, much like Gravesend, there are some lovely properties down there. You used to get a lot for your money.Quite a few new places have been/are being built aswell.

Gravesend was actually a really nice place to live back in the day.You can still spend a few million on a house which backs on to a golf course, or live next to someone with a pony and a jag back axle in the front garden, but the point is, as with many places, as the older houseproud generations faded away, the rot set in and never left.

I've never been to Sheppey, but I would say Gravesend is slightly better than Chavam...Slightly.

Went to school in Gravesend. Visit occasionally and always fill up with petrol. Usually the cheapest I've found.

LOL!!

Anyhow, agreed, whenever I am on the way back to Medway from Bluewater i'm sure to fill up there. The shell by Chalk is usually the cheapest along with Morrisons (The shell by Chalk gives me an excuse to hoon along the B road or the lanes towards the River)

Yup same for me, 132.9 there at the moment or 140.9 for V Power.

The town centre isn't that great due to Bluewater being just down the road, although they have done the TC up a little in recent years.

Gravesend (Riverview park) is my hometown and I won't have a bad word said about it, alright??

Although you're right, it is a dive!

Are you talking about the Shell that's on the oposite side of a roundabout to a used tyre centre? If so, that's my local for V-Power. What roads are good for a hoon around there?

Someone once said to me that Gravesend was the ahole of England and Northfleet was the scab on the arse ! Not my words, someone was trying to describe Northfleet to me.
Sometimes i get sent to work up in & around Medway for the day & parts of Chatham,Gillingham are pretty bad, i'm sure there are nice parts as well !

Simon.

I dont think so but i do know of a Shell in longfield opposite a used tyre (fawkham) and a pub called the railway tavern...

As for hooning roads. Put it this way, any quiet road is good when you are 17 in your Corsa... But i learnt the roads so now when the moid takes me still use the same roads. You new to the area? no probs showing you some..

That Shell in Longfield is owned by the same firm that own the Shell in Chalk. Longfield is always one of the most expensive petrol stops around here. Chalk is one of the cheapest.
Shell in Northfleet is usually the cheapest around here. (Next to a large Ford Dealership.)
(Used to have offices in Gravesend (shudder) now in Hartley)

No not really, I think you will find most parts of Medway are a complete st hole, I should know, I have lived here most of my life, I'm planning to move back to Surrey again, as soon as I can.

If you're passing drop in for coffee. And I appreciate it has it better bits and worse, but I'd take it over Gravesend any day.
