Hand carwashes seem to be everywhere these days but good ones are few and far between.

My local hand carwash guys have recently shut up shop and moved on...(Located by the mini roundabouts off Brompton Farm Lane, Strood). They were easily the best in the area, and so now I’m left trying to find an equally good local alternative, but struggling!

If you know of a decent hand carwash near you please recommend them here with a Google maps link if possible to help out your fellow PHers.

(Please don’t let this thread turn into a hand carwash, bad for paintwork, 2 bucket method, halogen light, yadda yadda debate, just keep it to the recommendations).

How about Sgt. Bills on Gillingham Business park, must have been there for well over 10 years now ,so I guess they can't be that bad! When I've used them I've had no problems.

Will give them a try tomorrow...

Also in Gillingham Buisness Park are KDS Keltec, I know they are a detailing outfit but I think you can also book up for a just 'normal' wash. I imagine its going to be more expensive but yous gets whats yous pays for.

Would it be breaking the naming and shaming rules to advise what hand carwashes arn't so good?

Thanks for the quote , we are in Gillingham but not the one you have said .

We are on railway street industrial park Gillingham .

yes we do also valet/wash cars more for our customers that are localish and had a detail package in the past and want to keep there car looking good for a long as possible , saying that with have a couple of guys that never had a detail by us but use us to wash their car carefully and the owner then waxes his car once a month or so .

we do take around an hour or so for lowest packages and start from £15 so not your fast turnaround style wash .

we have made packages between the £5 car wash and full protection/correction details as this area has a hole in the market really , more and more of my customers are chosing such packages .

cost against gains are good on these packages, we use all the fancy safe techniques and prodcuts that are used on the full on 200 hour details .

censored

the new kds website is nearly finishes which will have links to pictures of every package service we offer to show whats involved

Do you mean the one that was round the back of a car dealer? I used to use them too, always a queue, and they did a spot on job for the price. Any idea why they closed?

Yep, thats the one... no idea why they closed. I went these about 2 weeks ago and any trace of them had disapeared. I asked the guy who owns the garage and he just said "They just up'd and left one morning..." I asked if they had moved elsewhere and he didn't know.

I got the impression there was a falling out between them...

There's a decent one on the corner of Knockhall chase and the A226 London Road, Greenhithe. On the forecourt of Kent Car clinic. They take their time and are very thorough.

I use the one in Allington just down from th 20-20 roundabout opposite DFS. They are very good, all car nuts & take great care. The chemicals are a bit aggressive but seem OK. £15 for the Jeep in & out, Jag was £10.

The ultimate irony has to be the 2 big signs that can clearly be seen from the dual carriageway advertising the car wash.

There is one near Morrissons in Strood that I'm tempted to use, it's the one nearest the mini roundabout, I think it's called Suds & Scuffs.

Go a bit further down the road, the one opposite the entrance to B&Q is better.

I use the one at the Texaco garage in Forstal Road Aylesford.

It's convenient that it's only 50 yards away so I just drop the car off and they bring it back when it's done. £10 for inside and out.

Am I allowed to give a big thumbs up for Keltec?

I paid for a full correctional job for the OH's Satin red Vectra. I think we've had to reclean it twice over the last year as it spends allot of time under a cover and all we needed to do was use the quick detailer.

They do an excellent job well worth it for your P&J! smile

Hi Colin, been a while! I've seen your Tuscan in their a couple of times, although I must say I haven't been too happy with their service recently.

Also I assume your both talking about the same place as I only know of one along that road... unless you mean the one tucked behind Tescos?

There is also the place on Frinsbury Hill just down from the Tescos Express, but again I wouldn't say they are anything special.

Anyone tried the one on Lions Roundabout in Gravesend?

I might give them a go, I will let them loose on the daily hack first, see if they can get the bird mess off of it. biggrin

There are 2 on that road Lee, one at the end near the Morrissons roundabout, and the other by the retail park entrance.

Also, if you are ever in Bluewater, the car wash there does a good job. It's quite handy, as they tend to your car while you shop.

Haven't tried the Bluewater guys for a couple of years to be honest. The time I used them I was pleased but did feel it was a little over priced but I guess thats due to where they are.

OT: Chalkywhite. If you wondered who the loon was in the Red Alfa 159 who flashed you earlier tonight... that was me! smile

I wish! Its in the hands of another PHer now. I will return to the TVR clan some day, but not for a while I suspect. frown

Having kids and a wife off work does is not helping to say the least! Maybe this time next year...
