Hi all. My sister needs her air con regassing and I was just wondering who the best people to go to this saturday are. Live in Medway but its not the worst thing in the world if we have to travel a few miles...

I have a heard a few stories about people messing up or conning young women so just looking for somebody who I know is going to do a good job and not con her.

Thanks

Recently had my X5 done at the Bosch centre in Ashford. £50 all in and now cold as a cold thing.

BOSCH either make or put their name on the machines that do the job so I worked on the principle that a BOSCH centre should know what they are doing.

It takes almost an hour and should really be a 5 year service item IMHO. Also run the air con all the time to keep the seals lubricated. It will promote longevity.

Is that Ivybridge garage? If yes they are very good the Bosch scheme is a very good way of picking garages as they have to do a certain amount of courses a year to keep up with technology. Broadstairs MOT are another good one in kent.

Regarding the tooling the Bosch gear is an italian tool called Tronic just with Bosch labels on it, but is one of the best on the market. (I sell it by the way wink )

To be honest aircon regassing is pretty straightfoward, most machines are fully automatic you just clip them on put in car details and set them off. The issue comes if there is no gas in the system which means there is a leak which needs finding before any more gas can be put back in.

'cept your exhaust will apparently falling off, the shockers will conveniently be leaking and the brakes will no doubt be shot. hehe

I'd rather pay triple that knowing it's done right. biggrin

It doesnt even go up on a ramp so they'd have a job sussing all that out.

The job was done properly. Its all automated anyway. You get a print out from the machine before and after.

Yes in theory, but they also take the gas out if they do not make it cooler meaning you are in a worse position.

I went to a "well known national mechanic" when my clutch was on the way out. Some kid got in my car from cold revved the nuts off it and then told me my gearbox was fked and would need replacing; weird how he could tell that sitting there revving it on a ramp; but i'd seen enough, made my excuses and left... New clutch later things were fine...
