Early news reports do not look good, Cathedral destroyed and people are trapped and killed, Christchurch air traffic control tower has collapsed and flights have been stopped.

Never felt a thing in Auckland though.

Felt this one strong in Wellington, though being on the 11th floor was part of that as my colleagues on lower floors didnt.

Just outside Chch, (Prebbleton) - almost no problem here. Friends over as their house is not looking good - other friends staying in a spare house we have in Hornby.

Centre is looking bad.

We have all services, 25000 litres of water etc.

Any PHers with any problems locally get in touch

Not good, only spoken to one person I know over there. It was lucky the last big one was in the small hours of the morning but tragically not this time

Hope our man RobDickenson is ok as he is in CCh. Parents only left there a week ago. I was there just before Christmas and its shocking to see landmarks which I have photos of destroyed today. I really hope that this settles down for them. Great people with a great spirit.

I felt the initial shock and the first aftershock at work.
So sad - me and my fiance were only in Chch last Thursday too, it looked like normality had finally returned. frown

We've got a few PH'ers in the wars at the moment, Gaffer (Claire) in Tripoli and now you Kiwis are getting it too, albeit natural this time.

We're all thinking of you.

Was very surreal seeing places Ive been to/stayed after this. Hope all you guys down there are ok and that everyone who is trapped can be rescued ok.

Such a shame to see things like this happen to such a wonderful place. Look after each others guys, everything else can be replaced.

Just heard through Jim that Leyton (CRM) and his family are fine, but he's busy helping out where he's needed.

I hope Aaron (Oscar The Grouch) is okay. Also hope that your S1 didn't suffer in the quake too badly.
