Hi guys been using the Pistonheads site for a while now but never bothered with the forums until now.

Im in Christchurch and drive a Birkin S3 lotus 7 replica which I have owned since January 2009 and have just covered over 30000kms since ownership we use the car as a daily driver as much as possible as its just too much fun to leave at home, its been driven right through wonter as well as it has a heater, last winter it had a engine swap from a 1600 xflow to a Blacktop 4AGE as I wanted more HP and this was done by McGregor Motorsports in Christchurch.

I also run and own the NZ Lotus7 & Clubmans forums at www.lotus7.co.nz which I started so i could meet people with similar cars so I had other clubman owners to drive with on weekends so far its getting up to 300 members and is achieving what i wanted it too do.

I love the Lotus marque and intend to own a Elise at some stage in life and also plan on my first classic car being a Austin Healy 3000 which there is a nice example off in Fazz at the moment for $50k.

Anyway here are a couple of pics of my car if you see me out and about say hello.

The Austin Healey you talk of in Fazazz is excellent, wandered past there last month and popped in for a look around. They have some great Morgans in there too, including one family-owned model on display that's been driven all pretty much all over the world.

The mirrors are on the doors which we use a lot through Spring & Autumn and occasionaly in Summer on longer trips.

Welcome in. I lurk on lotus7.co.nz (I know Carl). Love your car and I love that you use it as often as you do. Using one of those every day would make an Elise an easy daily prospect..... Warning though, Elises are just as addctive as Se7ens.

I also love the safety strap on the hat.... I'll have to remember that one wink

Welcome. Great fan of the Lotus badge as well (see garage). I drive my cars just about every day. If your travels ever take you to Dunedin drop me an email (colombo@psy.otago.ac.nz) and we'll go for a ride on some twisty backroads.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Esprit I have seen you re-build of your Exige S1 on this forum it some how got linked from my Lotus7.co.nz one and it was most impressive to see what you are doing with the re-build.

MikeS350 if we are ever heading to Dunners I will send you a email and we can hook up on some of the good roads down there for a day, cheers for the invite smile.

Its so much fun owning a car like this and using it as much as we do im always giving grief (in a lite hearted way) to members of my forums who own clubmans who only ever do about 1000-3000 kms a year after spending upwards of $50K on some of there cars its just such a waste, me i will ring every once of enjoyment out of mine if fact we have a organised drive tonight up through Amberly and through the Weka Pass.

Cheers Stephen

Hi Oscar you would be more than welcome on the regular Wed evening runs, I hold them the second Wed of each month with out fail unless its raining we always leave at 7pm sharp and I plan on the driving being about 1hr to 1hr:30mins max with a stop at a pub for coffee or a drink.

Keep an eye on the Lotus7 forum in the south island section as I post the runs there about 2 weeks before they happen.

Cheers Stephen

Cheers for the welcome

I actually stay of the Port Hills Summit rd as there are too many cyclists on the wrong side of the road up there and even though I take care I sure don't want to collect them. Mainly i do the Sumner to Lyttleton run (coffee at Sumner at Jo Garage first )and around the bays and over Gebbies Pass if I want a good hour blast in the car smile.

Its a bugger when inconsiderate cyclists ruin a good driving road isn't it! Bikes are more fun offroad anyway...

Oscar plans so far are to meet at Northwood Supa Center out side Harvey Normans at 6:45pm sharp and leaving at 7pm and head north and end up at the Liethfield pub. This may change slightly as one of the guys has suggested having tea at the Liethfield pub so we may end up leaving a bit earlier yet, as soon as I have finalised the trip I will be posting it up this week at Lotus7.co.nz

Cheers Stephen
