Where is everyone?

Been here a week now and notched up over 1200 km in the hire car, mostly in South Island but back in Wellington for Christmas and New Year.
And I haven't seen a single PH sticker.
Mind you, I've never seen such open roads. Not to mention the fantastic scenery and the climate, especially compared to how it is back in the UK now.
We've seen a few boy racers and NZ chavs plus one rather tatty red and matt black Mitsu GTO (in Wellington).
We can see why so many UK people decide to move here.

Hello Rob, welcome to New Zealand. And I haven't seen a single PH sticker.

Yes, good move being here at present. My wife spoke to her sister in Scotland's south west at xmas. (The "mild " side of the island) Their plumbing was frozen and they were running out of central heating oil. High for them that day was -11. Up the road a bit in "The Highlands" it was -22. Have fun :-)
Thanks for the invite, Mark. We're staying in Vogeltown and spending most of our time with the family.
Unfortunately car hire has not been cheap and it goes back tomorrow. So, for the last week, we'll have to rely on my son, the buses or our feet to get about. It would have been good to meet some of you. (Actually, the novelty of watching our granddaughters having their nappies changed every few hours is beginning to wear off!)

That's an even better offer, Mark. Thank you. I'd love to meet some of you local guys.
Not sure at the moment if we'll be at our B&B at 9:25 or with our son & family up the road in Mornington.
A whisker under 6' and well under 95kg. Even with a crash helmet I fitted into an Exige for some laps of Silverstone. The Elise is similar in size, from what I remember of driving them at the auction.
Actually, I couldn't face breaking the habit of a lifetime and extended the car hire for the rest of the week. My view of public transport is a bit like Clarkson's.

we were meant to be visiting Hawkes bay but we're not sure if that is going to happen now.
Good wineries and winery restaurants up here, golf is good if you play - Cape Kidnappers. Art Deco in Napier if you want to learn about the earthquake. Depends what you're into.Have you been to Southwards yet? Not the same league but equally interesting www.britishcarmuseum.co.nz/
Weather usually better here as well.
Thanks for the ride, Mark. No way could my GTO corner like that
Good to chat to you and the other Lotus owners. Brilliant weather, too. Sue was so jealous.
And then to discover we had links back to 1970s drag racing. Really surprising. Sue was fascinated but, at the moment, she can't recall names from back then. My son may have thought he was the only kid to have sat in "Le Patron".
Robin was the other Read brother who was racing until fairly recently. He runs a chicken farm now - last time I saw him, anyway.
