Can i have a drive now Mike? winktongue out Unfortunately it doesn't sound as great as it looks in the game - they've managed to screw up a few car sounds they shouldn't have, like the Maserati GranTurismo and a modified Mine's R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R. Etc. frown
FYI, pics aren't touched up in any way. Taken in the games' Photomode, chucked onto the USB stick and straight onto the compy/internet.

The detailing is a bit crazy on the premium cars. The games' creator, Kazunori Yamauchi even said something like "maybe we went too far with the detailing in GT5, perhaps its better suited for the next PlayStation". It takes about six months to make one car...

My Gran Turismo website, while being horribly in need of an update (coming soon, along with an awesome new look) is a good go-to if unfamiliar with the series. www.gtseriescenter.com

Certainly looks sharp, how do you find the car handling/physics? I never really liked the older GT games in the regard, much preferred Forza which felt a lot more organic and realistic. Gave my old xbox away a couple years ago because it wasn't getting used, but currently quite enjoying LFS on the PC.

Generally the car handling is some of the most realistic i've seen/played. Forza 3 seems arcadey in compartison, and i own and enjoy Forza 3. Forza is good for the modifying/customising of cars etc, and perhaps quick driving thrills like drifting etc, whereas GT5 is best for seeing how the cars really handle. Skid marks in the game are the bes i've ever seen in a game, they actually reflect light when seeing them on the right angle! And the smoke effects, as you can see in the first few pics, are likely the best i've ever seen in a car game. Sometimes you can't actually see any of the car. biggrin

The 20.xkm Nurburgring Nordschliefe in GT5 is, i'd fathom a guess, likely the most realistic overall depiction of the track. The creator said that while he was racing around it on the real 24H Nurb race (you can race in the game for 24 hours too, on Nurb and Circuit de la Sarthe/Le Mans) he noticed after landing on a couple of the jumps that in real life the bits of track where you land the jumps isn't flat, it either curves left or right. And also he said a couple of trees and small buildings were slightly in the wrong place in the game... he's quite a perfectionist. Pity not about car sounds though. frown

I've got a steering wheel made especially for GT5 (Logitec Driving Force GT) and it really transforms the game, especially with the force feedback and the fact the wheel has 900 degrees of rotation (2.5 turns either direction?). Which makes it interesting when getting completely sideways - have to really fight the wheel to countersteer quickly enough to control the slide. biggrin

Love that Elise - doesn't handle too great on gravel obviously, but on tarmac its a real rocketship. And i love the slight aero kit you can put on it too (front bumper, sideskirts, rear diffuser and rear spoiler).

Anytime you want to go for a drive give me a call. Those pics look so real. In fact, I would have bet money those first three shots were indeed Kylie hooning around the track! Regretfully, Kylie has sold her 350 to someone who has yet to join the site. I should send her an email and find out who the new owner is.

Cool pics, something not quite right with the front splitter and nose being too pointy and sitting high. Pretty awesome though! Car does handle some nice sideways action smile the lads in the UK with big enough gonads who drive them hard can get them to do some pretty amazing stuff on track

Car long gone now but theres scope for another dream machine one day smile Missing the 350 like you would not believe!!!

Will do Mike. smile

Kylie, maybe its high because in all those shots its under full accelleration? But then again, it's pretty much ported straight from Gran Turismo 4 on the Playstation2, and hasn't been given the PS3 treatment yet so may not be 100% accurate.

There's 1,013 cars in the game, most imported straight from PS2's version of the game, but 220 or so of those cars have had MONTHS of work go into them (like the two Skylines and the Elise i posted above) and are incredibly accurate, with fully detailed interiors too (even down to leather stitching on the steering wheel!).

Cars in the Gran Turismo series are pretty much the most accurately detailed versions out of all the common car games out there. They seem to spend more time on that than getting cars sounds right unfortunately. frown

Full car list below, if anyone wants photos of any of the cars in the list let me know and me or someone else with the game on here can post them up. smile

Here are some of my latest pics.

TVR Cerbera Speed 12 destroying the opponents (with about 1,100hp its easy to see why - when it gets traction of course, which is usually fifth gear biggrin)

Stock SL55 AMG vs. a 1 series BMW?

Pagani Zonda C12S 7.3 in an (accidental) slide around the final sweeper on a wet Monza. No traction with sports tyres in the wet!

An AI opponents' DB9 going around the final turn at Tsukuba Circuit in Japan.

800+hp R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R dusting a Corvette at Tsukuba.

900hp+ Dodge Viper GTS (yellow/black) vs. standard Viper GTS on a fictional course

Standard Shelby Cobra 427 on a track creator course

Ferrari F40 on the Top Gear Test track

Audi TT 3.2 Quattro with a chrome paint job and chrome wheels

RuF CTR YellowBird (yellow), Audi R8 (blue), Corvette ZR-1 (orange), 1,100hp Speed 12 (black), 800hp Speed 12 (red) - 11 other cars not in shot. wink

I'm more of a Richard Burns Rally junkie these days... especially with third-party mods like Group B cars and Mk2 Escorts hehe

Forza is pretty good for quick thrills, especially drifting. And of course more exotic supercars, since Electrontic Arts aren't selling the Porsche licence (amongst others) to Polyphony Digital for the Gran Turismo games.

I've got all three Forza's so far - but Gran Turismo has always had the most detailed cars out of any console game i've ever seen.

How about some pics of the speed 12 in different colours... I started working through the game to get the chance to do this but just can't find the time...

Thanks in advance.

What sort of colours would you like to see it in? I have over 1,000 paint chips (all from other cars in the game) to use - pretty much every colour imaginable and then some.
