Hi all, CLNZ has been putting together a fun event and making it an open invitation to you guys smile (Porsche, Atoms, 7's, BMW, Jaguar, TVR, general race cars etc).

When: Sunday 17th October 10:00 am onwards. Werinui Road, Wainui. Gymkhana, Sprints & BBQ.

Club Lotus has procured a concrete private road and adjacent grassed paddock to host a single car sprint and Gymkhana. Cars will have the opportunity to sprint along a 600 m road, complete a 3 point turn and return to the start, or an obstacle course in the adjacent paddock. What ever your level of experience it will be fun for all. There will be prizes for the fastest, slowest, silliest etc. (no special requirements for your car as it is drivers responsibility). The club will be putting on a BBQ with snarlers, steak and bread etc. If you want any other food BYO.

So who's going to this then? And do we have to clean off our own black marks?

I'll have the GTI there! Trying to get Stan along too. He needs to test that nice shiny Odyssey battery in the Elise.

A copy and paste from a recent CLNZ mail out smile

Hi all just a reminder about the Gymkhana and hill sprint on the Sunday 17th at Wainui from 10am onwards.

There will be a few snarlers and steak in bread for the peckish ones.

This should be a good fun day out fall all for participants and those who just want to watch the fun.

To get there take the Silverdale turn off the northern motorway and head west towards Dairy Flat.

Approximately 0.5 km from the motorway turn right into Pine Valley Road.

At the tee intersection turn right onto Kahikatea Valley road then almost immediate turn right again down White Hills Road.

At the tee intersection turn right along Waitoki Road,

Follow the Waitoki Road into Weranui Road.

The site is approximately 200 m past the intersection of Haruru and Weranui Roads. There will be ‘Lotus’ sign post at the entrance.

See you all at the event.

Well that was pretty scary, a strip of concrete about 3 metres wide, 650 metres long, cow st, dirt & grass dropped randomly all over the place with no run off anywhere & fence strainers & big banks everywhere! Oh yes & it was raining too.
Return runs ranged from about 1.25s down to 1.06s
Good news is no damage to anything, great fun, and Lotus fended off the challenge from Shelby Cobra's, Jags, Toyota, Alfa Romeo & Sierra 4WD.
Thanks to all who put it on, and the Chef's for the great food.
Good to blow the cobwebs off both the car & driver.

Went up there in the Esprit following Cain in the GTi and found some shingle roads that wernt supposed to be there? Of course I wasnt going any further along them so turned around and we went to Puhoi pub instead. Car filthy!

Yeah well sorry Kylie but if you followed the instructions you posted it was fine. On the other hand if you went to the Puhoi Pub then went the Northern Route then you would have stumbled across some gravel. Would you like to talk about your drinking issues on the interweb or do you want to catch up over a bottle of shiraz to discuss that?

I thought I had printed off the instructions and dropped them into my laptop bag. But I was wrong, so I google mapped it and ended up at the middle of Weranui Rd, not the Kahikatea Rd end.

Mea Culpa. I was looking forward to sliding the GTI around. The pub and pool was good anyway. Cost me a lot less in rubber.

What drinking problem?

tongue outtongue out Id like to catch up over a bottle of fine shiraz pls. I actually left my instructions at home by mistake hence just following the leader who sort of knew where to go but left his instructions at home also! It was pissing down anyway. I bumped into James Smith he'll confirm spotting me at Puhoi in my half hearted attempt biggrin
