Hello all, emigrating with my kiwi wife in a year and a half and would ideally like to bring my TVR.

I've seen various posts re how to get it out which has been most helpfull and something I need to do more research into.

The thing that concerns me is the service/parts support down there, is there a NZ TVR club or grage s[pecifically worth talking to?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Stevo,

Glad you have found Jim. He has the only proven route to get these on the road. Anyone else considering bringing in blackpools finest needs to use him.

Which model of TVR are you bringing in? If it's a Speed 6 or AJP8 engined car there is little or no experience in NZ for maintaining these. That said, find yourself a good mechanic/engineer and they'll find nothing they can't handle. The big issue you will have is parts supply so having a good contact in the UK is a must. Get the car up to scratch before it's shipped and make sure there is no corrosion anywhere or you'll end up having to take the body off the chassis to get it on the road.

If the car is a Rover V8 engined vehicle I'd recommend you talk to Mike at Carworks (09 527 4343) - he looked after my Chimaera for 8 years and at one time looked after nearly all the TVRs in Auckland (including Jim's) before his boss sold the business.

Cheers Jamie, she is a S6 Red Rose Tamora and I fully accept/expect to be using a competant mechanic, preferably one that understands TVR's as opposed to one that has previous S6 practical experience.

Having spoken to Jim I am happy that he sounds the best person for the job being ex TVR himself. He also said parts wouldn't be an issue, I guess he has good contacts so should be ok.

She's a late low milage 1 owner car that's garaged so in pretty good nick really so hoping corrosion won't be an issue...will take some snaps and send to Jim prior to shipping to be sure.

Can't wait to get over there!!!

Ensure the chassis is emaculate. My 2003 Cerbera was supposed to be one of the best that could be found. It was rejected because some of the powder coating started to be burned between the chassis rails.

Wow, that really is @nal...why are they so strict?

Sounds like tehre will definately be some work needed to be done prior to shipping!
