Just wondered if anyone knows if my number plate hanging up in my office is still mine now I have left N.Z I had it on my car but took the plate back with said car to U.K. I can't seem to find any paperwork for them (I do have the original N.Z Licence docs with the number on) Just wondered if I loose the title to them by leaving N.Z and could I still sell the plates? And where would you sell a private plate in N.Z?...Trade Me?. Many thanks,Tom

...maybe have a look on Carjam and see if they're still in the system. I would have thought that unless you cancelled them, they are ok-unless you have let reg. lapse through being away for significant period.

Thanks for the Input, but what do you call a serious lapse? I don't plan on driving the car back in N.Z. So maybe I should sell? I just hoped that it might be worth holding onto while the number of Vipers in N.Z increased(Wishfull thinkinghehe)I,ll have a look into the site anyway, Many thanks.

A regular numberplate can lapse but AFAIK a personalised plate cant. I had a personalised plate sitting on my bookshelf for over 2 years before it made it back onto a vehicle and Id imagine theres alot around which have been off a vehicle for a lot longer than that.

Whether it'll increase in value who knows but I dont think there will be an issue with holding onto it and selling it later irrespective of what country your in at the time.

Probably worth checking with www.plates.co.nz for a definitive answer though.

Probably. There's over 1800 plates for sale on there at present.
