Proper cars for hire in Christchurch

Hey NZ PH Massive! Blighty on line. I am the very proud owner of a TVR 450 Chimaera (don't ya just love that V8 soundtrack ). I have taken advanatge of the current mega deal by Singapore Airlines (£749 return for two of us!!) and will land in CH CH in March next year. Just to keep that permanent itch scratched, is there anywhere I can hire a 'proper car' (probably not a Jap car to be honest, although there are some very good ones out there ) for a few days trip up to Nelson?

Your advice would be welcomed. Roll on March 2010!!!

Gosh that is a great deal on those flights! There are plenty of Euro type cars around for hire. If you email any of these guys am sure they would put you on to something more of your own taste. Good luck.

This would be great but a) it is in Auckland which, if my memory serves me well is in the north of the North Island and b) if it rains, don't we get wet? Wife would probably get the a**e with me! Mind you....what a blast that would be eh?!

Smart cars looks like the one! They even have an E-Type. Of this we approve!

There's only a handful of TVRs in New Zealand for a start, none to rent so you'll just have to make do with the e-type I'm afraid.

SmartCars didn't seem that busy on a recent visit to Queenstown. Saw a Nissan 4x4 and Porsche Boxster sat outside hotels for at least 4 days not earning any money - thats got to hurt.
