I've posted in the Australia forum asking for ideas for a holiday on the Gold Coast.
The responses have suggested I avoid Jetstar. Does anyone have positive experiences of Jetstar as they, and Pacific Blue, are about $2000 cheaper than the same AirNZ flights for 6 of us.

Had a good search and the best deal is Jetstar or Pacific Blue at around $2000 then Emirates at $2600. Judging by the comments against the cheaper airlines, Emirates may be the way to go. At least you get fed and the kids entertained for the extra $600 and from what I read Jetstar overbook and bump people off the flights.
We would like to fly from Napier as it avoids the drive to Auckland but its over $4000 extra to get same day flights!

I have had no promblems domestically. Just check in early and then expect a delay of an hour.

If you can afford to lose around two hours each way then the savings are worth it.

It also pays to check the weight of your baggage to eliminate any surprises
