Taranaki Tarmac Rally
Discussion
Iain and I did the Taranaki Tarmac Rally on Saturday - the second event for the new car and again it did the distance with no issues except maybe an over-bashed bash plate. We did the geo ourselves this time after we found the professionals left the camber adjusting bolts loose for us before the Bambina (floppy camber in the first event after a major off isn't a lot of fun). We seemed to get it pretty good as the car now handles like the old one did.
We decided to do it without pace notes as Targa training, so were happy with a modest 41st out of a surviving field of 63. Lots of time lost doing things like changing down for a blind yump, only to see a long straight ahead...
It was a fantastic event, good value for the entry fee and very well run by the local club volunteers who had teamed up with the Hamilton Car Club to run the event.

It was great to have the car handling properly again. For me that is the most important part of quick driving. The Bambina wasn't much fun with the car understeering everywhere.
Looking forwards to Rorarua now that things are working properly again. Hopefully I'll be able to come up with a tow car that won't lunch its gearbox in the first 2km.. 5 hours each way in the rally car was a bit of a pain. Worth the effort though :-)
