Write up from Pedey who I gave a passenger ride to:

That Torana is one of the sweetest sounding cars I have ever had the privilege of overtaking tongue out

Just been to Fraser Day at Taupo and we were told that it is Taupo policy to not allow Tin-tops to run with open tops (tin-tops ran in a seperate heat). Clearly that's bollix. Speaking of beautiful sounding cars -Des in the Fraser Club brought down his gorgeous newly completed Cobra-gorgeous and sounds delicious-and gorgeous-did I say that?. Also, Graham; there was a guy there who had built a Blackbird powered 7 replica from scratch! no kit(ting)!
I agree, Kylie, Sharing a track with Graham makes you feel like you're driving a golf-cart. Oh, and I had a hoot-love those new tyres! No ploughing or earth-moving of any kind now. I think I have finally found fulfillment! (sigh)

Cars and bikes is a complete no-no other than for specially approved events (like filming commercials).

Tin-tops and true open-wheelers are often segregated depending on the clerk-of-the-course. But that's stuff like Formula Fords not Se7ens.

Never heard of Tin-tops being segregated from open tops. Unless that's how one of the Fraser Club organizers wanted it.

Give it another couple of trackdays and upgrade-itus will kick in.

Building a Mega-blade Se7en without a kit would be challenge and a half. eek

Its unfortunate for some that this story is much better understood for those fortunate (or unfortunate tongue out ) to have been in the "brown" seat. I still remember that road that linked onto the motorway Graham and I think it was 2nd gear and ohhhh sh&%$$# as I felt the helmet trying to peel my face from its skull!!!

So I read that story and chuckled knowing exactly what the writer was expressing and from what part of his body... as they say "Adrenaline is brown"

and yes the plates available biggrin

As it happens I went through Greenhithe yesterday. Phil's workshop is completely gone as is the dairy next door. New shops are mostly finished with some of them trading already. Another bit of history gone . . .

He and his family moved to Rangiora . . . which has hampered my Halo 3 multi-player tongue out but is very convenient for the S.I. trip wink

I remember being rather surprised by the amount of lift on the helmet at speed actually, fortunately my head remained attached to my neck. Would have made a nasty mess in the car otherwise silly

hehe Looking forward to the SI playdays driving Need to get myself out of gravel habits first though! rofl I suspect the management would frown on the use of scandinavian flicks...

Unfortunately shortly after the racing shoot, I triple rolled the car. Two lateral and one endo. Ripped a complete corner off it. Weird thing is I didn't damage a single hiem... just tore them from the arms.
Funny thing is you get used to 600hp very quickly. It's like sex, no matter how much you have you want more.... need more.

Will be in Nelson next month, Taupo for the 1000km event in Sept. www.taupo1000.co.nz

The second roll...

Me passing a Porsche powered compeditor...

Small world - saw your Jimco (I think) in a workshop in January, looked quite a weapon! We dropped in on the way back from the A1GP for my mate to catch up with his mate who owns that slightly mental Toyota Tundra race truck.

Andrew Thomason! 'tis a very small world. Andrew is NZ1 from 2007 (in a Rod Millen Tundra), supported my Jimco for 2008 (to NZ1) and is supporting the car again this year (hopefully NZ1 again). The car looks like shyte with no panels on it, in raw moly water blasted for about 15 hours after every race I just can't keep it clean or from surface rusting. But you do get an idea of how bloody tight it gets in the middle of a V6 twin turbo mid engine car!
Hopefully, one day, I'll finish my Celica ST205 and come have a play with you... I didn't word that well did I?

If you're ever back this way give me a nudge!

Yep that'd be the guy - mate I was with has helped out a bit with that truck I think, and crewed for Millen at Race to the Sky. I'm a Timaru boy originally so back up there fairly often, might have to catch an off-road meet at some stage smile

What sort of specs are you building your ST205 to, Group N/A/something silly for Ashley Forest? I'd love to get into rallying but the costs keep putting me off so I just stick to playing around and being spectator/photographer so far.

Although the car is a 99 it's being prepped to pre 96 spec (with dispensation). I've a fully built engine, car with a moly cage, problem is finding something suitable to replace the stupid superstrut while retaining the excellent 6 pot brakes (and reducing the disk to allow for 15 inch rims).... and also finding time and money to support two race cars!
