AdvertisementTwo of Britain's biggest television personalities, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond, are heading to New Zealand with their hit show Top Gear for a series of live shows.
The pair - known for their quick wit, crazy stunts and controversial comments - will perform 10 Top Gear Live shows at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland during February.
The shows, which feature 75 minutes of stunts, driving sequences and regular spots from the TV show, will be held between February 12-15.
Each Top Gear Live show will feature up to 16 different sequences with Clarkson and Hammond playing host, undertaking a number of activities to amuse fans.
Kiwi motor-racing personality, NZV8 driver Greg Murphy, will join them for the shows.
He said he was honoured to be taking part.
"This is an honour," said Murphy. "Cars are my life and this is the ultimate celebration of motoring."
Top Gear Live director Bas Bungish said the live show was proving to be popular.
"Put simply, Top Gear was so successful on the small screen and so many people wanted to be part of it, it made sense to take it to the people and to the world," he said.
"Our desire is for this to become an annual event visiting at least 10 countries each year."
Tickets for the shows go on sale on November 24.

It was unfortunate I caught this thread last night. I sat down for dinner with my wife last night and noted the beaming look on her face. Upon inquiring, she told me she had got my Valentine present sorted out and I would never guess what it was - their ability to plan ahead like this never ceases to amaze me.
Anyway I nonchalantly thanked her for the tickets to Top Gear live - a complete mid-air pluck, bought along by having looked at this thread a few minutes before. As a result I now know what a stunned Mullet looks like. Why she has decided to reward my brilliance with a week of dealing with number twos from my 18 month old son is quite beyond me. I must be a woman thing - any ideals Kylie

Its fair to say that we do tend to sweat over the small things in life and go the extra mile to make you feel special. But goes both ways....really, and you must be doing something right to make her happy me thinks

AdvertisementCar companies in Australia are reportedly seething at "obscene" damage done to their vehicles during the filming of cult television show Top Gear.
Driving stunts reportedly left some luxury cars requiring makeovers.
A Lamborghini sustained around AU$25,000 worth of damage, believed to be the most expensive repair bill.
A group of Holden Astras reportedly needed around $30,000 worth of repairs after they were used in a game of lawn bowls.
"All we will say is that it turned out to be a very expensive test drive," a Holden spokesperson told the site.
While the show is set for a second series in 2009, car companies are reportedly saying the show will not be so kindly received.
The Herald Sun reports the car companies have been left with a $200,000 damage bill following the filming of the Australian series.
