And soon it begins...
We've negotiated access to Megan's Dad's spare rural post delivery van - should be able to pack in a few more spares than we got into the back of the Golf for Rotorua. The van has done 300000 diesel miles and still going strong.
Scrute went without a hitch, though Iain reports some lengthy inspection of the innovative lightweight aftermarket headlight p(r)opup system to replace the servo motor ones (two sticks cut to length labelled LEFT and RIGHT).
The full route details are in this month's Driver magazine which comes with a bonus CD of supercar noises. At least our support crew (Megan and her Mum) will have something to listen to in the van. Prologue on Labour Day is a street circuit in Manukau which should be a bit of fun - come and watch!
Since Rotorua we have...
- Raised ride height by around 25mmm
- Replaced the clutch
- Replaced the exhaust
- Fixed electrical gremlins in leccy windows and wipers
- Replaced rear brake seals, fuel filter, oil and filter
- All the other stuff I've forgotten
Last jobs:
- Fit a LOUD horn (remember the YouTube vid?)
- Buy Iain some seasick pills

Indeed it does
Seeding was supposed to be out last night but hopefully we'll see it today.
The Prologue around Manukau is very tight with lots of hard edges - even has 3 judder bars.
There has been suggestions that if you've got a spare set of rims and tyres (other than your allocated 6) then you should run these for prologue. Its really one for the burnout boys and unlikely to affect seeding, so you should review and revise accordingly the published seeding list when it comes out. You will be able to walk the track on Monday morning.
Day1 is a long day and you don't want to be stuck in traffic all day.
See you Monday.

Hi George,
Thanks for that, and for the tip on the speed bumps - we'll bring the street wheels.
I don't know the roads further north but the Wellington stages are absolute crackers. There' some bits you definitely don't want to drop off the edge of though, like coming up the coast side of Paekak hill!

Service van collected.. it runs pretty well for a 300k vehicle, I think we may have to look at some belt tensions though to get rid of a nasty 'squirrel in distress' noise. We wouldn't win any prizes if we ran the service barge in the main event though.
Perfect for the job in hand.
Think we can come up with another PH logo to cover the Rural Post sign on the front???
It is going to be pick n mix with the anti motion sickness remedies.. there should be 3 delicious flavours to choose from. Hopefully one of them will work.
Coin flipping for stages is going to be interesting.. they all look good so there will be no loosers.
Mucho fun
